A key to making progress in your training is to always mix up the workouts, so your body doesn’t get used to doing the same thing.
Today I had a fun track session at my local 400m track. I use the short bike ride there as a good warm-up, particularly on these cooler days. Once at the track I start off with 4 laps at a slow jog, followed by my normal dynamic warm-up routine.
If you are using a sports watch to track your workout, it is easy to set the intervals so you don’t have to worry about keeping count or marking your start/finish on the track.
The workout looks like this:
400m – Jog
2min Recovery
400m – Run
2min Recovery
400m – Fast Run
2min Recovery
400m – Sprint
2min Recovery
400m – Fast Run
2min Recovery
400m – Run
2min Recovery
400m – Jog
2min Recovery
I have only done this workout a few times, but I have to say, that I like running on the track. It’s a nice change from pounding the pavement or the road.
