Today was perfect conditions for a run around the beautiful city of Amsterdam. Blue sky, light cloud, a gentle breeze and a very comfortable 6°C (43°F).

The goal for today’s run was to cover 16km (10 miles) at a comfortable pace. By comfortable, I mean you should still be able to hold a conversation with the person next to you and not be out of breath.

I really look forward to the Saturday long run as it’s so motivating running with a group of people who enjoy the experience of running. Time always seem to pass by so quickly and before you know it you only have 3km (1.8 miles) to go. Each week we take a slightly different route around the city, depending on the distance we need to cover.

We are very fortunate that we have one person in our running group who makes the maps each week. He calculates the distance so we always start and finish in the same spot and he also takes in to account those people that are training for a half marathon versus those training for the full marathon. This enables us to all run together and then the half marathon runners can end their runner sooner while the rest of us keep going.

If you are ever in Amsterdam for the weekend, reach out to us as we would love to welcome you into our group and show you the parts of Amsterdam you probably wouldn’t normally see.
