Every Tuesday I complete a track workout. If you have been following my previous posts, you will notice I normally do a 400m track workout. Well that changed today when my coach increased it to 800m. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but let me tell you it’s harder than you think.
My workout today consisted of the following;
5km Warm-up
800m Fast Run
2min Recovery Walk
800m Fast Run
2min Recovery Walk
800m Fast Run
2min Recovery Walk
2km Cool-down
The real key is completing each set of 800m to the same speed and intensity as the previous one. You don’t want to get to the last set of 800m and not make the distance or start jogging the last 100m. This gruelling interval session is aimed at building speed during my race.
